Mothers Day

I will admit that Mother's Day isn't usually my favorite holiday. Since its been about 14 years that I've seen my mother I have a hard time appreciating what she ever did for me. However as the years have gone on I've learned that although my Mother hasn't been a great mother to me , I still have many women in my life that have been. My great-grandma (Nanny) has been one of the biggest Mother figures in my life. She took care of me when I was sick and still does. She is there for me no matter what happens or how bad I seem to screw things up. I admire her generous heart, spirit, spunky personality and the ability to help me view the other side of a argument. I couldn't possibly explain what she means to me in one Internet entry. Any one who has meet Nanny can testify of her infectious personality. My Step-Grandma Laney has also played a significant role in my growing up. She has been my grandma and best friend. Its been her open minded view and life experiences that help give me perspective and appreciation for life. She will always be known to me as my "Groovy Grandma". Laney has been an inspiration to me more then she will ever know.

Last but certainly not least is my Step Mom Shauntel! She is sometimes more like a older sister then a step mom but that's what I love the most. Shauntel is very easy to talk to and I know I can come to her with any problems that I may have. She is beautiful inside and out and her sense of style is classic. I hope that Sloane and Cole realize how lucky they are to have her as their Mother. I know I've been very lucky to even have her in my life.
I've been working on viewing Mother's day as a positive rather then dwelling on the negative of it. I know that I'm very lucky to have these wonderful Mothers in my life. I can only hope that I someday become a mother just like them. When I have the honor of being a Mother I will make sure that my children know how much their Mother loves them. For those of you who already have these wonderful influences in your life, I hope you took the time to say just how much you love and appreciate everything they do for you. Mom is truly a special word.
